A young female soldier who is completing training abroad is found dead in her apartment. The clues lead to her ex-partner, with whom she fought over custody of their daughter, and to the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Bundeswehr. Steiger and her new colleague Reiter have to split up in order to follow up these two leads. Steiger, who has just resigned from the army, pursues the lead at the Bundeswehr while Reiter investigates in Munich. Steiger suspects the tough instructor Melzer, who is harassing the women in the troops. But why won't the women cooperate with her? What really happened between them and the murdered woman?
